It has been a concern for me as a person that, while we consume, often times we are unaware of the origins of the things we consume. People are offended at the images of slaughter houses, and I don't justify the inhumane treatment of animals but the detached from the soil is inexcusable. It is the ability to appreciate that the fruits of your labour, wrought through careful planning and a meticulous attention to detail. The acknowledgement even with the best of intentions, a greater force could still blow by and replace your hard work with naught. But what elation there is to be had when all the stars (storm clouds and periods of sunshine) align to result in a bountiful harvest.
Harvest would not be possible save for the weather and environments giving you the provision. In all it's simplicity it allows us to realize that as much as we try to distance ourselves from the natural world and become independent of it, we are, at our cores, still at the whims of the rain, the sun and the earth. It's humbling whenever I think about it.
So that's the preamble/reflection before my offering of this video. I hope you take something from this... and I hope you're able to give a little back.
